Our Story and History
In 1951, Jackson Brodsky, Esquire moved his law practice to Montgomery County with one clear goal: to provide aggressive representation to clients going through divorce. He was often referred to as the “Dean of the Domestic Bar” until the time of his retirement in 1981. Keeping with tradition, for the past 70 years, Brodsky Renehan Pearlstein & Bouquet has maintained a sustained commitment to excellence in the practice of divorce and family law.
Brodsky Renehan Pearlstein & Bouquet has grown from 1 attorney to presently 6 attorneys. It has attorneys with unique and diverse backgrounds, all of whom practice primarily divorce and family law. The Firm is comprised of 4 partners and 2 associates.
In 1995, Brian K. Pearlstein, Esquire brought to the Firm his experience in commercial, civil and criminal litigation. He has been a partner of the Firm since 2001, and the Managing Partner since 2007. Mr. Pearlstein’s background makes him an extremely effective advocate in even the most complicated high-income and financial cases. He has been recognized in Maryland Super Lawyers as one of the top divorce attorneys in Maryland, and consistently included on the list of Washingtonian’s Best Divorce Lawyers, and Best Lawyers in America List. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and has been practicing for 30 years.
Edouard J.P. Bouquet, Esquire joined the Firm as a partner in 2010. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell. His experience as a counselor, advisor and litigator, garnered over more than 30 years of experience in complex and contentious matters inside and outside the Beltway, made him a welcome addition to Brodsky Renehan Pearlstein & Bouquet. In addition to his private practice, Mr. Bouquet also has an extensive background as a mediator and is frequently appointed by the Courts of Maryland and the District of Columbia to serve in such role.
The Firm’s Partners, Heather Sweren, Attorney at Law, and Maureen Renehan, Attorney at Law, joined the Firm after each having served Judicial Clerkships in Montgomery County. They have a combined litigation experience of almost three decades.
The Firm’s Associates, Samantha Pollin, Attorney at Law, and Kayleigh M. Anselm, Attorney at Law, both served as Judicial Clerks in Montgomery County before joining the Firm. Both bring a fresh perspective to many of our cases.
Brodsky Renehan Pearlstein & Bouquet is carrying on the traditions of its founder, Mr. Brodsky, while using cutting edge technology to meet the clients’ goals. These goals are met with the highest standards of service and integrity.
Family Law Protection
Family law addresses the legal issues that arise from relationships. While topics such as divorce, child support, and custody earn the majority of family law attention, family law also focuses upon protection―protection from domestic violence or child abuse, protection of your reputation, or protection of your assets. We have a long history of helping to protect clients in family law proceedings. Our D.C. & Maryland family law attorneys are experienced in issues related to prenuptial agreements, marital agreements, domestic partnership agreements, and in matters related to abuse.
Family law is not just about resolving disputes. It’s also about protecting yourself or your loved ones. Our family law attorneys help clients in Maryland and D.C. protect themselves, whether it’s protecting assets with a prenuptial agreement or taking immediate action to protect themselves from domestic violence.
